This delicately carved mask shows both Baule and Yaure stylistic influences. Masks of this type were used in funeral ceremonies for an important female elder. Notice the "prestige" comb carved into the hair. Such prized combs were often buried with their owners.Compare this mask to one from the last exhibit.
