African Art at the Ralph Proctor Gallery
"Nigerian Traditional Artifacts"
August 1 through October 31, 1998

We hope you enjoyed your visit to this exhibit. If you did, tell your friends about it. Please, leave your comments or suggestions in the Gallery guest book. We look forward to hearing from you.
We also hope you will visit again. Our next exhibit is scheduled to be mounted on November 1, 1998. We send an e-mail to everyone who signs the guest book and leaves an e-mail address at the beginning of a new exhibit, or you can send a message to webtech@introspecinc.com if you would like to receive an e-mail reminder when the new show goes on-line.
All items in this exhibit are for sale, except pieces marked NFS or SOLD. Contact the Gallery to make a purchase. If you will be in Pittsburgh and would like to visit the Ralph Proctor Gallery, send e-mail or call to arrange an appointment. The actual pieces are more beautiful and powerful than any photograph could ever capture.
If you're interested in exploring more African art on-line, or finding exhibits in the real world, we recommend these sites:

  • masks.org is an index of mask images, mask makers, masquerade troupes and relevant resources from around the world.

  • The Michael C. Carlos Museum has a web page describing their sub-Saharan African art collection, with lots of background information on the items shown.

  • The Kennedy Center's African Arts Resources web site has metamorphosed into African Odyssey InterActive, which "is aimed towards promoting the interactive exchange of ideas, information, and resources between artists, teachers, and students of African art and culture."

  • Tamarin Art and Africa OnLine ... gallery, books, marketplace, and more. Their current on-line exhibition is "Sculpture from Zimbabwe."

  • Make your own masks with your kids using art kits from "Two Do" Art Experiences, Ltd.
We'd like to hear about your favorite art sites.
