stylistic differences in fertility dolls produced by the Fanti and
Ashanti people of Ghana. Includes some made-for-tourist pieces for

blind-stitch method of applique, as it is used on colorful wall
hangings. Originally, applique designs were reserved for royalty,
and not only were hung on palace walls but also adorned royal
ritual regalia, such as parasols and garments. Appliques are
story boards depicting important events in the reign of a king.

from West and Central Africa. Includes masks portraying deities,
