African art sales. Ralph Proctor Gallery, founded in 1976, and a subsidiary of introspec, offers a wide variety of traditional African artifacts from West and Central Africa. Items are priced for beginning collectors, decorators, advanced collectors, and museums. Prices range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars.

Appraisals. Dr. Ralph Proctor is a member of the National Association of Professional Appraisers, with 35 years of appraisal experience. He is certified to appraise collections or individual pieces in the following categories: Ethnographia; African art; antiquities; art and artifacts; general. Certified appraisals accurately describe and value African artifacts for purposes such as insurance, estates and estate planning, donations, and property division. Fees are charged at an hourly or per diem rate. For more information call:  1-800-488-6693

African art services include:

  • Appraisal of individual pieces or entire collections for insurance or evaluation of contributions;
  • Photography of collections, utilizing either videotape or still photography, either traditional or digital;
  • Purchase consultations on individual pieces or collections;

African Travel. The Gallery's experienced African traveler will help you plan trips to Africa for small or large groups. An African art specialist can organize an "arts and culture" tour that will include assistance in making your art and handicraft purchases. If you already have a trip planned, Ralph Proctor Gallery can provide an experienced guide to accompany your travelers.

Publications. The Ralph Proctor Gallery has available two publications for individuals interested in African Art: (1) The African Art Lover's Guide to Collecting helps beginning art collectors to develop a collecting strategy that fits their interests and finances; and (2) African Images to Color, a two-volume set of coloring books utilizing images of traditional African artifacts. These publications are available in the Gallery gift shop.
